In this guide, you will review on how to remove and replace the belt on a Makerbot 5th Gen printer. You will look over a repair guide PDF available on the team drive. The purpose in reviewing this document is to gain a general understanding of the steps involved, not necessarily a working understanding just yet.

Each printer has a rubber belt inside that is responsible for moving the gantry in the X and Y axis. When the belt gets warn down, it skips out of alignment, resulting in a layer shift.

We can check the belt tension by reaching into the printer through the top and slightly tugging on the rubber belt present on one side or the other. There should be very little slack in it.

The picture shows the aerial view of the printer with the top and gantry removed. The red "H" outline dictates the pathway of the belt throughout the printer.
