Introduction
A DC power supply is a component used to provide constant direct current power, controlled either by voltage or current. In this guide you will learn the basics of the BK Precision 9129B Triple Output Programmable Power Supply, which can be used to supply constant DC voltages of up to 36V with currents up to 3.1A across three channels.
-
-
Plug the power cord in on the back panel
-
Ensure that the voltage switch is at the 110V setting
-
-
-
Push the power button on the front panel
-
The screen will light up, and after initializing, display the maximum voltage and current settings for each channel
-
-
-
Voltage and Current can be set in several different ways:
-
The analog dial on the right side of the front panel, clockwise to increase, counterclockwise to decrease
-
The arrow keys on the front panel, up/down to increase/decrease, left/right to select place to modify
-
The number pad on the front panel, type the desired quantity and hit enter
-
Switch between setting max current and max voltage with the V-Set and I-Set buttons
-
-
-
Cycle between channels using the grey Local button on the left side of the front panel
-
-
-
Wires can be connected to the channels either via the banana plug socket or by screw down wire clamps
-
-
-
All channels can be toggled on or off simultaneously with the on/off button
-
Individual channels can be toggled by pressing Shift and subsequently pressing the 1, 2, or 3 keys respectively
-
-
-
The power supply can be switched to display the actual current and voltage across each channel using the Meter button
-
-
-
The power supply can be locked so that no input will alter the set quantities for each channel by pressing Shift and then pressing the Enter button
-
In this mode, most inputs have no effect, but the 1, 2, and 3 keys will toggle their respective channels on and off without the Shift key
-
-
-
Voltage and current settings can be saved using the save/recall functionality
-
To save the current settings, press Shift and press Recall (Save) to enter Save mode, then press one of the numpad keys to save the setting to that location
-
To recall a setting, simply press the Recall button to enter Recall mode, then press one of the numpad keys to restore the settings saved to that location
