Introduction

Several features, like lofts or sweeps, require sketches on multiple planes, or paths impossible to constrain with one plane. The construct geometry toolset enables the creation of points, axes, or planes not bound by the origin or a face of a solid body.

  1. The Construct menu on the tool bar has tools to make planes, lines, or points relative to existing geometry
    • The Construct menu on the tool bar has tools to make planes, lines, or points relative to existing geometry

    • The top section contains tools for making planes

    • The middle section contains tools for making lines

    • The bottom section contains tools for making points

  2. This guide will not cover all of the tools for making construct geometry, just some of the most common to provide a sense of the options available To create an offset plane, select a base plane then specify the offset distance at which to create a new plane To create a mid-plane, select two existing planes to generate a construct plane between.

    • To create an offset plane, select a base plane then specify the offset distance at which to create a new plane

    • To create a mid-plane, select two existing planes to generate a construct plane between.

    • The new plane appears in orange

    • To create a three-point plane, select three existing vertices and Fusion generates a plane that intersects all three

  3. To create an axis through a torus or cylinder, select the relevant curved face The "perpendicular at point" tool prompts the selection of a face and creates an orthogonal construction line where the user clicks The "line through two vertices" tool creates a line passing through two selected points.

  4. The vertex tool makes a construction point at a selected vertex The intersection between two lines tool creates a construction point where two axes or edges touch The point on a path tool prompts the selection of a path, and allows the placement of a point along it
