You must wear proper PPE before draining the baths in the Contac

Safety glasses/goggles

Apron

Gloves

Empty LPKF jugs and can be found in the back room

You can wash out and use empty propanol jugs if you need more storage

You will need the slotted spoon in the cabinet beneath the Contac and glass beakers from the chem room for bath 5
-

Plastic tubes can be found on the top shelf of the cabinet next to the Contac
-
Each tube is marked with which bath they're used for
-
-
-
Open the cover on the front of the Contac by pushing on it
-
Remove the plug from whichever bath you're draining by pushing on the ring around the plug while simultaneously pulling the plug out
-
Insert the corresponding tube

Place the other end of the plastic tube into a plastic jug (you may need to place it on a stool)

Make sure you are using the correct jug for the bath and only use a different jug if absolutely necessary

Rotate the blue valve to begin draining the bath
-
These baths will fill up multiple jugs, so make sure you do not overfill and cause a mess
-
Repeat for each bath
-

You will need to remove the floating balls before you can drain bath 5
-
Use the slotted spoon to remove the balls and place them in glass beakers
-

-
Baths can be refilled by pouring in from the top
-
Make sure the blue values are all closed before pouring in new chemicals
-
Make a log in the back of the Contac manual detailing which chemicals you changed
-
Pour the balls back into bath 5 after filling it
-

Rinse the plastic tubes, slotted spoon. and beakers with water
-
Wipe down the surfaces and lids of the Contac
-

-
Submit a chemical waste pickup request at https://app.essr.umd.edu/rw/chemForm

Fill out and tag each jug with a green ESSR tag from the back room
-
Chemical constituents can be found in the yellow SDS binder by front entrance
-
If the constituents don't add up to 100% then the remaining percentage is water
-
Place the jugs in the chemical storage cabinets under the ProtoFlow and ProtoPrint.

Activator 310 goes in the section labeled 'BASE'

Each bath follows a regular schedule of being drained and refilled with fresh chemicals:

Bath 1/2 - Cleaner 110/210: Every 3 months
-
Bath 3 - Activator 310: Yearly
-
Bath 4 - Via Cleaner: After 10 PCBs
-
Bath 5 - Copper Plater 400: Yearly
-
