Introduction

After each print there is excess metal powder around the inside of the printer. This must be cleaned so that the print area can remain looking good and functioning well throughout the lifecycle of the system.

  1. Open the printer door Hold a vacuum about chin-height from the powder in order to minimize powder from escaping and control the movement of the dust in general Another operator will be doing the actual cleaning

    • Take two scrapers and shovel left over powder into the grate on the left end of the print area

    • After shoveling, brush the remaining powder off to the sides into the alcoves

Powder falls off to the sides of the print area into two alcoves going around the front and back of the area Take a brush and the powder down to the left grate at the end of the alcove until there is none left Vacuum out the interior of the printer after as much powder is brushed away as possible

    • Use a dry paper towel to wipe the inside surfaces of the printer chamber, including the sheet metal

    • Close the printer door

  3. Open the center utility cabinet door
    • Open the center utility cabinet door

    • Wipe the area around the overflow keg cabinet for excess powder

    • Close the center utility cabinet door

    • Using a lint free wipe and DI water, clear any areas around the printer where pink binder may have been spilled or deposited

    • Make sure to pop open the printhead cover and check for binder inside the carriage

    • Dispose of all cloths with powder on them in appropriate location
