Introduction

After every print all extra powder funnels into the overflow keg and fines jar. This powder must be processed properly post-print in order to be properly recycled. The powder is coalesced into a single store keg, and then set to dry alongside the print in the drying oven.

  1. Open the printer’s center utility cabinet Shake the bellows tubing to clear any powder caught in the tube Remove the clamp connecting the keg and the powder chute of the printer
    • Open the printer’s center utility cabinet

    • Shake the bellows tubing to clear any powder caught in the tube

    • Remove the clamp connecting the keg and the powder chute of the printer

    • Slowly raise the chute and install a cap to prevent extra mess

    • A vacuum should be used to control dust

    • Slide the keg drawer out and remove the keg

  2. Locate the fines jar fastened above the keg Remove the clamp Pull the fines jar down and out
    • Locate the fines jar fastened above the keg

    • Remove the clamp

    • Pull the fines jar down and out

    • Dump the fines jar into the overflow keg which was just removed

    • Do this action quickly to prevent dust from escaping

    • Wait 5-10 minutes for powder to settle

    • Reinstall the fines jar back into its position

  3. Move the removed keg to the drying oven to be baked with the print DO NOT use a cap, O-ring, and clamp to seal the removed keg If there is an empty store keg available, this step should be taken immediately, otherwise it can be delayed until before the next print is started so long as the powder chute is capped
    • Move the removed keg to the drying oven to be baked with the print

    • Locate an empty store keg and install it into the printer

    • Remove the cap on the chute carefully

    • Pour any powder that is on the cap into the waste container

    • Seal the newly installed keg to the chute by using a O-ring and clamp
