You are required to wear eye protection while operating equipment.
-
While ear protection is not necessary while operating the vertical band saw it is advised.
-
Do NOT wear protective gloves, loose clothing, or jewelry. Long hair should be tied up. Machines that have rotating components can become entangled in any one of these and cause severe injury.
-
-
-
Verify that the upper and lower band doors(A) are closed.
-
Twist the doorknobs(B) counterclockwise to lock shut.
-
Make sure the tensioner arm(C), accessible from the right-hand side and back of the band saw is set in the horizontal full tension position.
-
Make sure the dust collection system(D) located at the back is connected and secure.
-
-
-
Orientate or remove the resaw fence using knobs(A). The resaw fence can be made horizontal or vertical depending on the height of the cut.
-
Adjust the position of the resaw fence using the main adjustment knob(B) and the lower adjustment knob(C).
-
Move the fence more precisely by first loosening knob B while tightening knob C, then rotating the fine adjustment knob(D).
-
Adjust the height of the guide bearings(E) to be ~1/4 in above the cut by turning the handwheel(F). If the handwheel is stiff loosen the back knob(G).
-
-
-
Hit the green section of the power switch to turn on allowing a few seconds to reach maximum speed.
-
Be aware at all times when making a cut, using minimal force to guide the material through the saw blade.
-
Use push sticks and other tools when cutting small pieces to avoid pushing directly in line towards the blade.
