Jira Project States
Explanation of the use of each column in the Design Team Project Tracker.
Perspective
- Perspective projects are for internal prospective projects that have been suggested but have not yet been evaluated as feasible.
Feasibility
- Projects in this state are currently being reviewed by the DPM to establish background, scope, and requirements. The DPM will then decide if a project fits the capabilities of the Design Team.
Estimate
- Projects in this state are currently being evaluated to determine the estimated resources needed to complete the project.
Backlog
- The Backlog is for projects that have been evaluated for feasibility and an estimate was created but the Design Team does not currently have the resources to complete the project. Backlog projects will be taken on as projects are completed.
Active
- The Active state is for projects that currently have teams working on completing the project.
Maintenance
- For projects that are not currently undergoing active design work but are not yet finished. May be used for projects where parts are in production, or where you are waiting for information from the customer.
Waiting for Payment
- Status for projects that cannot proceed to close-out or back into active while waiting for payment from the customer.
Close-out
- The close-out state is for projects that have met the project deliverables, but are not yet closed out. The DPM should ensure that all payments have been received, all information has been delivered to the customer, and a post-mortem should be completed by the PM to evaluate the successes and failures of the project for future learning.
Completed
- After a project is closed-out it is moved to completed for future reference
No-Bid
- The no-bid state is for projects that were deemed as unfeasible or where the estimate was not agreed upon by the customer. These projects can be picked up in the future if circumstances change for the design team or the customer.
