MIC Second Semester Lab Manager Progression
The purpose of this Wiki is to promote growth and accountability for MIC LM's.
Semester Objectives
Complete these objective before your semester PDM to improve your skill and grow as a Lab Manager. The soft skills additionally introduce the reader to the duties of an SLM, a Senior Lab Manager.
Maintenance/Repair
- By the end of the semester, complete XXX number of extruder repairs with SLM sign off for each
- Some common errors include Heat Sag and Homing Errors
- Complete a printer repair walk through with Andy; he will sign off on this task
Ticketing System
- By the end of the semester, resolve XXX number of tickets with SLM sign off for each
- These tickets may also include Papercut responses “Technician needs to respond”
Advanced Meshmixing
- By the end of the semester, complete three Meshmixer dummy prints
- These three prints will consist of one Beginner level, one Intermediate level, and one Advanced level

Important things to Remember
These reminders serve as a quick glance to make sure you are keeping up with some of the day to day responsibilities in the lab that are often overlooked. These responsibilities are extremely important to the efficiency of the MIC.
Asset Management System
- Scan each filament roll when it is expended and update the respective entry in the AMS stock
- Run a count of the filament by color once a month, and ensure that it matches up with the quantity that is listed in the AMS
- Make sure that Extruders are properly logged and accounted for (when extruders are swapped without updating the AMS, the extruder docked on the printer wont match the one reported to be attached to the printer in the AMS)
End/During Shift Responsibilities
- Send a Slack message in #lab-makerbot-ic with any high level issues or project notes that occurred during your shift
- Regularly check Slack in case there are any issues that come up that needs attention
