Work is often split between multiple shifts and staff members, so it is important to keep a record of what has been done, by who, and when. PaperCut is our primary system of record for progress on orders.
-
In addition to the customers file, staff should upload processing files to the order as they are generated. This includes both gcode and 3mf files.
-
Comments should be posted when:
-
A gcode file is uploaded to the order. Note any choices made while slicing.
-
A print is started on a printer. Include: printer name, material, gcode started (if multiple.) If there multiple copies of a single file needed, make sure to track which number this print is.
-
A print failed or was canceled. Note reason or symptoms of failure. Make sure to also comment when restarting the print.
-
A print is moved to a new location, like QC.
-
A print undergoes the QC process. Note the result of the QC process.

-
Internal communication not related to orders happens on Slack.
-
Please remember to:
-
Send a message to #ops-late-notice if you are going to be late for your shift
-
Reach out to our corresponding lab channel for any questions or information
-

-
We use three Jira boards for documentation in the AFL.
-
AFL Machine Status - Each printer or laser cutter in our lab has an issue on the AFL Machine Status board, tracking it's current status and any issues it is experiencing. If you see a machine error, go to the relevant item in the board and leave a comment detailing it.
-
AFL - Projects and tasks outside of normal operations are tracked on this board. If you are assigned something here, make sure to update your item with any progress.
-
Additive Procurement - Any items needed for the lab can be entered here. LCs will review items in the Ready to Purchase status weekly, and submit for purchase those they approve.

The more communication that you initiate between staffers and customers, the more you will gain valuable experience here at TW
-
This is esentially a way for you to gain experience with guiding and taking the lead on various orders while simultaneously understanding customer needs and helping them correspondingly
-
Please also remember that everyone, regardless of position, is always learning at TW. If you have any questions or are unsure about anything, please reach out to other techs, TS's, LC's etc!
