Common Troubleshooting:
Metal Cutting:
- If there is a lot of slag or poor cut quality regardless of the assist gas:
- The lens is most likely out of focus, follow the user manual on setting the focal height for the V-Focus lens. Make sure to document the new focal position in the #equip-kern slack channel.
- The quality of the steel can impact this, it is usually more of an issue with mild steel.
- If the metal is not cutting for any apparent reasons, check the lens to make sure it is clean and not burning a hole through itself.
Non-Metal Cutting:
- For larger thicknesses, if the bottom of the cut appears to be warped or different from expected, the lens is probably out of focus, follow the user manual on settings the focal height for the S-Focus lens.
- If there is excessive burning for thin materials, the speed can be decreased to mitigate this issue.
